Health records play a crucial role in our daily lives. What if your smartphone carried all your medical records, doctor’s visits, lab results, and other pertinent health data?
Well, it may be possible soon. Apple is working on a concept that will allow your iPhone to carry your entire medical and clinical data for easy access. The company has already launched discussions with healthcare providers and administrators to enhance their iOS health app.
Sources report that Apple has joined forces with healthcare startup, Health Gorilla. The app in the works by the healthcare venture will allow smartphone users to capture all medical information on a single platform.
The aim of the partnership is to revolutionize the entire process of doctor’s visits and encourage users to keep themselves abreast of their personal health data. The app makes the life of a patient easier by allowing users to easily share medical records with doctors and specialists at the time of consultation. From the perspective of doctors, the app simplifies the process of diagnosing as he or she will have complete information about their patients at their fingertips. This is unlike a scenario where doctors have to physically conduct the entire diagnosis again.
Additionally, the company wants to contribute to reducing waste through unwanted tests that are conducted which often happens due to repeated diagnostics and a lack of previous medical records. Through the app, doctors and physicians can have access to almost any kind of data including diagnostic labs, radiology centers, and blood test reports, making the entire process less complex.
Health Gorilla will integrate various data components into the healthcare app by partnering with service providers like lab testing companies, imaging centers, and hospitals. Apple wants to stick to its concept of providing the iPhone, not just as a communication device, but also as a tool to help people live a healthier lifestyle. Through the app, users can also record their vital stats, nutrition related data, and body measurements, making it easier to keep up with fitness and eating goals.
The app will ensure error-free diagnostics giving a feeling of comfort to patients who probably are not aware of many of the medical terminologies the doctor is using. Moreover, the upcoming health app will allow users to tap and see nearby doctors in case of emergency to ensure patients get the care they need.
