The gadget world is pleased with the latest revelation from Amazon. Since the market is flooded with new players, Amazon has decided to take serious measures to complete its project Alexa Studio.
To date, they had not made the project accessible to external or third party developers. However, given the current position of the project, they may soon grant access to developers so they can contribute better voice apps for Alexa, thereby helping to complete the project.
Though there are concerns around user privacy, the company has to maintain a perfect balance between user privacy and developer access. Amazon wants to maintain the lead against its rivals Google and Apple who are also jumping into the smart speaker game.
As far as the users of Alex Studio are concerned, they are currently able to see only non-identifying information, such as the number of times a user speaks to the Echo device, the number of times a specific skill is used, and the location of user. Sources from Amazon have indicated a possibility of providing access to actual transcripts, though it is not yet confirmed on how much and to what extent this will be done.
The primary part is that if developers know what exactly is being used of their skills, then they can tweak the system based on the information, as commented by former Alexa product head, Ahmed Bouzid.
However, there is no confirmation from Amazon on the matter and only time will tell how the entire exercise will be carried out.
