Apple has officially announced Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Operations, Deirdre O’Brien, has been promoted to Vice President of People. After 30 years with Apple, O’Brien will head all HR activities including focusing on talent development, recruiting, and overseeing Apple University.
Since her arrival in 1988, O’Brien has collaborated with senior executives within the company to promote a healthy and innovative brand. She has played an important role in every piece of hardware Apple has developed within the last 20 years, an impressive feat considering how Apple has changed the world of technology. O’Brien had the following to say about her new promotion:
“I love Apple and, like so many of my colleagues, I’m honored to have made it my life’s work. I’m excited to begin this new chapter, supporting 120,000 incredibly talented people around the world who are motivated to do amazing things every day. It is a privilege to work among such a diverse and talented team, and to help them thrive here at Apple.”
Other Apple executives praised O’Brien and her work ethic at the company over the years. Among them is CEO Tim Cook who stated, “Deirdre has been the glue that bonds [their] operations, sales, marketing and finance teams to deliver products to [their] customers. Deirdre deeply understands Apple’s unique culture and that people join Apple to do the best work of their lives” He went on to say that she is a “superb leader [that] will be bringing her experience and talent to this critical role.”
Apple has thrived with Deirdre O’Brien in its corner and the new promotion serves to further help their dominance as the leader of innovative technology.
