After multiple resignations and departures of Uber’s top leaders, yet another high-ranking employee has left the embattled tech company.
AG Gangadhar, the head of engineering, is the latest to depart. According to Recode, Gangadhar was over the engineering department where former Uber employee Susan Fowler — whose viral blog post on the company’s culture of sexual harassment and discrimination sparked recent investigations — worked. In the post, Fowler wrote that she had requested to transfer out of her department but, “according to my manager, his manager, and the director [Gangadhar], my transfer was being blocked because I had undocumented performance problems”. Fowler claims, however, that she had a perfect performance score and had never received any complaints about her performance.
Fortune notes that Fowler’s allegations pushed Uber to conduct an internal investigation, in which it reviewed over 200 claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, unprofessional behavior, bullying, and other complaints. The investigation led to the firing of more than 20 employees and caused CEO Travis Kalanick and several other top executives to resign.
While Uber confirmed the departure of Gangadhar, it said that it was unrelated to Fowler’s post.
An Uber spokesperson said in a statement, “We thank AG for his contributions to Uber and wish him all the best in his next endeavor.”
Uber is in dire need of leadership at the moment. It is currently operating without a CEO, COO, CBO, CFO, CMO, president, SVP of business, SVP of engineering, general counsel, and now head of engineering.
