43-year-old Simon Sinek is one of the most sought-after leadership consultants in the country.
He is the author of three best-selling books and has a fourth on the way. (It’s called Find Your Why: A Practical Guide for Discovering Purpose for You and Your Team and is due out in September, just in case you were wondering).
Sinek is also the force behind the third most popular TED Talk of all time. (You can watch here, if you haven’t seen it already).
For most of his career, Sinek has tried to figure out why people do what they do, why they trust who they trust, and why they buy what they buy.
So, exactly why is Sinek trying to figure out these things? For him, it all boils down to purpose.
In the August 2017 issue of SUCCESS, Sinek discusses how effective leaders and organizations have that one thing – purpose – in common. Sinek tells the magazine, “There are things that happen in the formative years of our lives that affect the way we view the world.”
Sinek’s goal now is to encourage people in society to organize themselves around people who share their values. He urges leaders to have more empathy and ask what they can do to help. His ideal world is one in which “the vast majority of people wake up every single morning inspired to go to work, feel safe when they’re there, and return home fulfilled at the end of the day.”
The August 2017 issue of SUCCESS hits newsstands today (July 11). For more information about the magazine, visit www.success.com.
