Forbes, in partnership with Sprinklr and LinkedIn, recently released its 2017 list of The World’s Most Influential CMOs.
Dean Evans, the chief marketing officer (CMO) for Hyundai Motor America, was ranked No. 29 and was the second-highest automotive industry CMO on the list.
Jerry Flannery, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, praised the ranking. “Being named to the Forbes Most Influential CMO list is a tremendous honor for Dean and the entire marketing team at Hyundai,” Flannery stated. “Hyundai consumer consideration and brand opinion reached all-time highs this year, and we’ve seen significant increases in dealership traffic. Dean and team have also successfully articulated our ‘better’ brand philosophy, developed outstanding creative and pushed new approaches to retailing.”
In recent years, the media landscape has become more fractured, traditional advertising models have been upended, and the continued rise of digital and social media has shifted control of a brand’s reputation to consumers, causing the role of the CMO to significantly evolve. With such change in mind, this year’s Forbes CMO list focused on CMO influence, the impact a chief marketing officer’s actions and words have on the brand’s awareness, and his or her influence over the organization and the industry.
As CMO for Hyundai Motor America, Evans oversees the marketing team at Hyundai, as well as at the company’s INNOCEAN agency. He has been responsible for effectively building Hyundai’s consumer-centric brand promise and driving more customer leads as consumer car-buying habits rapidly change.
Evans has also overseen the launch of Hyundai’s “Better Drives Us” mantra, modernized the company’s digital marketing efforts, increased the use of data and analytics, and introduced more precise performance metrics.
