Romio, the new startup service that allows users to share and discover neighborhood recommendations from local experts and friends, has hired Chris Budden to lead the company’s marketing and operations departments and help to better establish its brand and growth.
Romio is scheduled to launch in early fall of 2017.
With Budden’s hiring, the startup plans to create an innovative marketing strategy to promote the awareness of the brand to locals in New York City, while gradually working toward spreading the brand to the rest of the U.S. Romio plans to take out the “anonymous” from reviews on the site, and wants to emphasize how local opinions can positively dictate what service or company is worthwhile.
Prior to his new hiring, Budden was the Group Account Director at Havas New York. His daily responsibilities were overseeing a list of highly creative brands, with Dos Equis as a prime example. Budden also managed other brands in the past such as MasterCard, Canon, and Verizon.
CEO Tarik Sansal made the following statement about Budden’s hiring and his potential impact on the company:
“Chris brings incredible passion, industry knowledge and deep experience managing integrated teams to Romio. With award-winning advertising campaigns under his belt, Chris has the right balance of business acumen, creativity and cultural awareness that will help us build an influential global brand inside and out.”
Budden himself is quite enthusiastic about the new position and seems to be excited about working with Romio to help promote its brand and user-friendly interface. Budden was asked about his new position and answered with the following response in a recent interview:
“I’m joining Romio with great aspirations to grow this new brand into the future. Tarik Sansal’s vision for building a mobile platform to accelerate digital commerce, anchored in trust, is incredibly timely and appealing in today’s environment. With powerful global investors backing the platform and a solid core team and partners, Romio will be a game-changing product.”
Romio has a good idea on paper, but it will be interesting to see how the startup will be perceived by its initial users in the NYC area.
