Computerworld organizes multiple surveys, comprehensive questionnaires, and compiles results based on information available in order to rank companies on the basis of the benefits to their employees, career development opportunities available, and the overall experience that employees have.
This year, their list of the Best Places to Work in IT had at the Numero Uno a mid-sized 3,607 person company named Ultimate Software. It is a leading provider of cloud-based human capital management solutions, with more than 33 million people records in the cloud. Ultimate’s award-winning UltiPro delivers HR, payroll, talent, and time and labor management solutions that connect people with the information they need to work more effectively.
Ultimate was also ranked #1 in the ‘Top 100 Best Places for Benefits.’ Jason Ruggles, a 38-year-old solutions architect says, “It makes me feel like I don’t have to compartmentalize my life. I’m not working for ‘the man’ [referring to his superiors and colleagues], I’m working for family and friends.”
Ultimate provides its employees multiple benefits ranging from on-site fitness classes and car services to reward programs and reimbursements for children’s after school activities.
The company has a self-proclaimed ‘people first’ policy that has helped it rise to the number one spot on a list that is the greatest validation for any company that treats its employees like family. “‘People first’ is much more than a tag line; it defines our culture,” Rogers said.
Other companies in the list succeeding Ultimate Software and making it to the top 5 are Credit Acceptance, Miami Children’s Health System, AARP and Halifax Health.
